Another major school in the Middle East, with over 700 students, chooses Engage Unite management information system (MIS).
‘A school such as the DESS can benefit hugely from an MIS,’ said Richard Jones, Sales Director. ‘The school’s size and complexity demands a simplicity of operation which Engage Unite provides. Its functionality suits DESS perfectly.’
Eddie Liptrot, Headteacher, says…
‘Being a British school in an international context offers particular challenges to the management of information and data. Double First’s Engage Unite MIS is flexible, adaptable and able to handle the complexities of our school.
‘The package is comprehensive and can be accessed by teaching and admin staff, giving us an integrated system which will offer a huge increase in operational capacity. Furthermore, our new colleagues at Double First have been a real pleasure to work with. We are really quite excited at the prospect of exploring the opportunities that this package opens up for DESS.’
Established in 1971, the Doha English Speaking School moved to their present site in 1979 when Queen Elizabeth II and HE Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani presided over the official opening.
Sponsored by the British Embassy, DESS remains the leading British school in Qatar and maintains their not-for-profit status, ensuring all their resources go into providing the best quality learning experiences for all.
Engage and The Middle East
Kim Hollamby, Double First’s Director, said, ‘With schools in Qatar, Saudi and Bahrain in the Middle East, as well as Schools in other areas of the world, our International operation is growing at a pace.’
‘Support is always a key point,’ added Kim. ‘Our customer support centre operates to bring the cover International schools require. They can be secure in the knowledge we are there to help when they need us.’
‘Does this take our eye off the UK ball?’ commented Carole Denman, Doubel First’s Operations Manager. ‘Certainly not. Our growth over the last two years has meant we have poured resource in the support unit not only in manpower, but in training, training, and more training.’
Out with the Old, in with the New!
DESS had been using an Access database with various spreadsheets and a bespoke accounts package. Using Engage with some of its optional modules replaces these systems and streamlines the school’s operation.
