We’ve been watching with concern the severe Australian bushfire season in 2019/20 which has caused loss of life and massive destruction of property, communities and businesses across the country, particularly in South-East Australia.
Aaron Alcock, our regional manager, reports that all Australia schools using our Engage school management information system are safe with the worst effects experienced being poor air quality and smoky days for those located close to Sydney. Recent more favourable weather has slightly eased the heavy workload of the predominantly volunteer fire service, but reports suggest another temperature spike is due across the country.
Our thoughts particularly this week are with Andrew Kemp, our Australian-based APAC regional manager. Our wholly-owned subsidiary, Engage Australia, has granted emergency services leave so that Andrew can play his part with the brave individuals of the New South Wales Rural Fire Service. We wish him safe service, alongside all his many volunteer NSW RFS colleagues as they continue efforts to control the intense bushfires still raging in that state.
